Birthday LogoThis year is the 140th anniversary of Randal Cremer Primary School. The school opened in 1875 as Shap Street School and over the next year all pupils will be learning more about its history and changes over time.

To celebrate this important milestone we are having a ‘Randal Cremer Birthday Party’ on Friday 18th September. We will be holding a traditional street party in Pearson Street and have arranged for full road closures between 12 and 6pm. Your child is invited to bring in party food and their class teacher will let them know what to bring.

This is not just a celebration, we are aware that there are many refugee children unable to celebrate their birthdays this year as they make the difficult journey with their families to try and find a place of safety. We want our children to try and help so we are asking that all pupils do the following:

– Contribute £1.00 for wearing their own party clothes.
– Donate a toy, book or clothing they have grown out of as a birthday present to refugee children who are denied school. This does not need to be new, but we do ask that the donation is clean and in a good condition. We will box up all the gifts donated and arrange for them to be sent out in a consignment to be given to children who need them most.
We want all our pupils to have a wonderful time but we also want them to appreciate that there are many children who need our love and care and that small actions can sometimes make a big difference to other people’s lives.
